Fearrington
Artist, Pac McLaurin likes pictures, stories, and pictures that tell stories. “I think
any decent photograph tells us at least a fragment of a story. I am especially
interested in the concept of place and a sense of place.”
On his website http://pacmclaurin.com,
Pac tells of his interest in “the history of photography, really history in
general as reflected in photography.”
His upcoming
exhibit, Cuba 50 Years Under the Revolution is story telling at its
best, an intermix of time and place. History revealed through a fascinating
display of black and white diptychs comparing 1963 Cuba with more recent work -
photos by Tito Alvarez 1962 and Pac McLaurin 2012.
The opening
reception is Friday, August 21, 2015 from 6-9pm at Through This Lens in
Durham. The show runs through September 13, 2015. Dr. McLaurin will speak about
his work at 2pm on the closing date of Sunday, September 13th.
