Astists Studios at Fearrington Village Open Studio Tour Weekend

Artists Studios at Fearrington Village Announces our First Annual Open Studio Tour 2015- Saturday, April 11 (10 a.m.–5 p.m.) and Sunday, April 12, Noon–5 p.m.).

To be a visual artist is to express ourselves in a way that can be viewed by others. These expressions may be profound or silly; inspire or unnerve; be innovative or revere the past. We may see our role as one who reflects on the mysteries of life; presents joy or beauty; creates in order to make a living; or simply because “we must”.  It is this communication, this sharing of our ideas, thoughts and emotions that brings our art to life. Edgar Degas said, ‘Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.”

Artists Studios at Fearrington Village is a group of visual artists (friends and neighbors) who come from many backgrounds. Some are lifelong professional artists, while others are just discovering the joys of creative expression. In opening our studios, we will share our creative process, present our unique artistic perception and welcome visitors to our world of colors and shapes- paintings, drawings, collage, photography, altered books, sculpture, woodwork, jewelry and more. Works are available to view and purchase.

Some of our studios are not much more than an easel in the quiet corner while others are spacious places filled with energy. Whichever, we have created a space where we find inspiration.

We hope you will too.

Join us Saturday, April 11th 2015 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) and Sunday, April 12th, 2015 (Noon -5 p.m.) for our First Annual Fearrington Open Studio Tour. It is free and open to the public. A preview reception & group exhibit will be held – Friday April 10, 2015 6p.m. – 8p.m. at Galloway Ridge Auditorium, Fearrington Village

Maps will be available at business locations throughout the area. Open Studio signs will be posted along Fearrington Village’s beautiful winding roads to guide visitors to the studios. Fearrington Village is off 15-501 in Chatham County – just 8 miles south of Chapel Hill.  For details, to download the tour map or to view a list of participating artists go to http://fearringtonartists.org/ or http://fearringtonartists.blogspot.com. Murry Handler Upcoming Exhibit

Summer Landscape by Murry Handler
Murry Handler has exhibited widely- in solo and group shows; national and international juried competitions. His work is in numerous collections both corporate and private around the world.  Murry’s upcoming exhibit is close to home and offers a wonderful opportunity to view and purchase his latest work - a selection of his stunning watercolor paintings.

Rack-em by Murry Handler
Spontaneous and sparkling with lively color, Handler’s watercolors are akin to musical exercises. They keep the artist’s hand fluid, flexible and his mind nimble. Occasionally they become the studies for large canvas paintings. All watercolors are on heavy bonded archival paper. One of these brilliant, fun abstractions is sure to brighten any room.

The opening reception is Thursday, Nov. 6th 2014 at the Bold Building in Governors Village from 5-8 PM. There will be wine, hors d'oeuvres, and live music, good conversation alongside "different people, new people, new art, different art," in the words of Murry himself.

The Bold Building is located in Governor’s Village adjacent to the Governor’s Club at The
50101 Governors Drive Chapel Hill, NC 27517

Helen Kotsher, Exhibit at Galloway Ridge thru Dec.

You are invited to explore the beautiful paintings of Fearrington Artist, Helen Kotsher...

Artist Statement: “I have tried to find the essence of the subject and explore it to its fullest in color and space. The unusual color combinations I achieve evoke memories and perceptions of time and places.

To me the negative space is an integral part of the subject matter and I am always looking for innovative ways to integrate the two.  I also believe that less is more. Therefore, what I leave to the viewer’s imagination makes him or her a participant in the creative process,” Helen Kotsher

Kotsher works in oils, pastels and mixed media.  Stop by Galloway Ridge to see her paintings on exhibit now thru Dec.

She will be participating in the Fearrington Artists Open Studio Tour in April. This is one studio stop you will not want to miss!
