Artist Carol Owen will hold a talk on "Altered Books" at the new Ackland Museum Store in conjunction with the exhibition "Books and Broadsides (first edition)". The exhibit features the work of 20 plus local artists, and includes handmade books, broadsides, monoprints, handmade paper, as well as a site specific paper installation. Four of Carol Owen’s altered books are included.
Carol will be talking about the nature of altered books, what are they? How she became interested in doing them, and what’s involved in making them. The talk is free and open to the public. Please plan to attend.
The exhibit will continue through December 18th. Store hours are Mon-Sat, 10-5:30 pm, Thursday 10-8:30pm, Sunday 12pm-5pm.
Artist Studios at Fearrington Village is a community of visual artists and fine craftspersons who have come together to support one another, promote our art, open our studios and share our vision of Fearrington Village as an arts destination. Many of the artists welcome visitors to their studios by appointment and during our annual Open Studio Tour.
