New artist community off to a fast start

Artist Studios at Fearrington Village, a new organization of visual artists who live and create in Fearrington, announces two additions to its Steering Committee. Roni Liberman, who makes wooden furniture and turned bowls, will chair the Salons Committee. Our artist group is planning future events in Fearrington Village where artists will meet to share ideas and collaorate, and the general public can enjoy learning about the creative process.  Watercolorist Florence Johnson will chair the Exhibitions Committee. In the future, juried exhibitions featuring Fearrington will be organized by this committee.

Our Steering Committee has been very busy since our initiating meeting in April. Murry Handler designed a logo for all of our communications.  Vidabeth  Bensen and Leslie Palmer have begun assembling a portfolio of Artist Statements and examples of their work, which will be available at various venues in the Village for visitors to learn about our artists and their studios. . Carolyn Davenport has kept Fearringtonians up to date on our activities through the Newsletter. A web presence on the FHA Website has been developed, and a blog and Facebook page has been established by Forrest Greenslade. We are already prominent when Google searches for "Fearrington Village" are done. Steering Committee leader Enid Handler has met with Fitch Creations representatives to discuss mutual opportunities for promoting Fearrington Village as an arts destination.

Artist Studios at Fearrington Village will be featured in the September October issue of Chapel Hill Magazine.
