Come out and Play Sculpture Show, Saturday August 25^th

Over 70 sculptors, including  Fearrington Village artists, Forrest Greenslade, Jane Palkoski and Zen Palkoski will show their work for five weeks at JimGin horse farm in Pittsboro.  The opening reception on Aug. 25th has live music, food and great art and is free. There are additional receptions with live music the first four Saturdays in Sept beginning at 4 p.m. All last until dark. This is the show's 11th year.

JimGin Farm is located at 150 Wild Horse Run, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

Art in the Village Wows Visitors! 27 Fearrington Studios Open!‎

The first annual Art in the Village was a huge success! Thirty–two artists set up ‎their art and fine crafts among the delightful gardens of Fearrington Village. The ‎outdoor exhibit was the inaugural event for Artist Studios at Fearrington ‎Village, a group of 50 visual artists who live and create art within the community. ‎Members’ (painters, potters, sculptors, photographers, jewelers, wood workers, ‎fabric artists) work repressents a wide variety of styles and media. Well ‎established, award winning artists shared the grounds with talented emerging ‎artists. ‎

Through out the day a crowd of art patrons filled the Village Center. The ‎community is clearly passionate about art. They found each artist friendly, ‎accessible, ready to share their creative experience, and present their work. ‎Stopping to speak with each artist, many chose just the right piece to grace their ‎home or purchase as a gift. Art in The Village visitors enjoyed Fearrington’s ‎tranquil country setting, took a stroll through the gardens, listened to music by ‎The Mayer’s Jazz, Past Times Friends and Violicity. ‎

Artists and visitors, alike praised the volunteers for their organizational ‎efforts- the impressive turnout. The event was supported by the media, ‎the Fearrington community and by Fitch Creations, Inc., Fearrington's ‎exclusive builder and developer. Even more remarkable is that this ‎newly created group has meshed into inclusive and supportive ‎association, offering inspiring and top-quality art, and is well on it way ‎to fulfilling its mission to:

Attract visitors to our studios to experience the creative process; ‎ ‎
Facilitate opportunities to exhibit and sell our artwork;
Enhance the lives of all in our community through the arts;
Promote Fearrington Village as an arts destination;‎
Support one another in our professional lives.‎

If you were unable to attend Art in the Village, you ‎missed a fantastic event. But you still have ample opportunities to experience ‎this unique community of artists. Artists' studios are now open by ‎appointment through out the year. Come share their love of creative ‎expression, discover an emerging talent, take a private class or ‎workshop, explore the workspace of nationally and internationally ‎known artists. Become a collector.

Fearrington Artists Hold Trunk Show

Artist Studios at Fearrington Village artist, Jane Palkoski will be joining Fearrington artists Beth Buttitta, Aud Ackerman and Jackie Goodwin at the 4th Annual Fearrington Holiday Trunk Show at 9 McDowell Square, East Camden Fearrington Village. Shop for the Holidays for original handcrafted items for home and gifts: holiday accessories, handmade jewelry, purses, knitted scarves and hats; sweaters, and much more. The trunk show is Fri Nov 4th 10am -3:30pm. and Sat. Nov. 5th 10am - 3:30pm.

Carol Owen to show at Ackland Museum

Fearrington Village artist Carol Owen will display her altered books in a show at the Ackland Museum store in Chapel Hill, Oct. 21-12/18. She will give an artist's talk there on Nov. 10, at 7 PM.

Owen has been a professional artist for 30 years, working initially as a weaver and papermaker, and now in mixed media. She has exhibited throughout the United States and her work has appeared in many publications, including Collage for the Soul, and magazines including Mary Engelbreit's Home Campanion (Dec/Jan 2008), Somerset Studio, Legacy and Country Living. Carol's book,Crafting Personal Shrines, was published by Lark Books in October, 2004, and reprinted in soft cover in February, 2006. She is a member of Artist Studios at Fearrington Village, a group of artists who live and create in Fearrington.

Hands, Hearth and Home

Fearrington artist Carol Owen will exhibit her paintings and spirit houses at Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts in Winston-Salem. The show is titled "Hands, Hearth and Home) and runs from 9/2-30-11/26.

Fearrington Village Art Show Update

Art in the Village, a celebration of visual arts will be held at the Fearrington Village Center, Sunday, October 9th 10am-4:30pm  (rain date Sunday, October 16^th)

Stroll the gardens and enjoy works by Fearrington artists. Chapel Hill Magazine cites “Fearrington Art Mecca” “Move over, Belties: Dozens of artists – and their studios – are bringing a new type of attention to the mixed-use community”

The September/October issue of Chapel Hill Magazine features a new organization of Fearringtoin artists. An article by Anna Norris, describes how, “Artist Studios at Fearrington Village is working to form a symbiotic relationship for both creative minds and the visibility of village attractions”. She continues, “Artist Studios now has roughly 50 members who will be listed in databases distributed around Fearrington and will be available for studio tours by appointment.” She focused on Fearrington’s unique location, “Surrounded by the Triangle, Greensboro, and Pinehurst, Fearrington is a central, easy-to-reach point for both artists and tourists.”

“Those people who are art lovers and nature lovers who live in these three areas can make a day of it, come see art, go to a great lunch and see the beautiful village with all the gardens...’ says Forrest Greenslade artist…”

Fearrington Artist to teach kids to make goblins

Fearrington painter and sculptor Forrest Greenslade will teach a workshop called GoblinFest on October 22nd  at the North Carolina Botanical Garden. Fearrington artists' works selected

Fearrington artist Vidabeth Bensen's screen print, "Bright Shadows," has been selected for inclusion in the Live Auction Against Aids "Works of Heart " on Saturday, October 8th at the Progress Energy Center in Raleigh.  



Murry Handler' oaintings Smokies #2 will also be among the artworks at the event.

Fearrington Artist Murry Handler's Whimsy in Black & Grey Purchased for Corporate Headquarters

A four panel painting from the Whimsy Series has been purchased by a biotech company for its new corporate headquarters in Durham. The tetraptych is from a series of multi-canvas abstract paintings, executed in black and white acrylics on linen.

Each of the paintings in this series plays with the viewer’s perception, hence the name "Whimsy in Black & Gray", making wry comments on visual cues by showing off-kilter, canvas on canvas, askew or trompe l’oeil effects.

Fearrington artist exhibits in Maryland

Fearrington artist Marcelle Harwell Pachnowski will display her painting  "Sahasrara" and "Q's Spot" at "Exploring New Dimensions", Stephanie Ann Roper Art Gallery, Frostburg State University, Frostburg, MD/    The show will open on September 9, 2011 7-9 pm and continue until October 12, 2011.

Artist Studios at Fearrington Village is a new organization of visual artists who open their studios to share the creative process with visitors to Fearrington Village, a beautiful rural community just south of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Larry Leblang's Deco Buildings featured by Fearrington Artists

"A while ago I asked my wife what she wanted for her birthday,. " recounts Fearrington Village artist Larry Leblang. "The Chrysler Building," she replied. So Leblang drew her the Chrysler Building 30 inches high and 12 inches wide, the tower with all it's sunburst, the triangle windows, the gargoyles, all the deco touches. She loved it, and it became the beginning of Leblang's love affair with deco architecture.

Artist Studios at Fearrington Village is an informal group of visual artists who live and work in Fearrington Village, a lovely country community near Chapel Hill with many creative and productive residents. 

Wurster recognized by the Arts Council of Moore County

Fearrington Village artist Harry Lane Wurster has won the second place award in the acrylics category at the opening of the 31st Annual Fine Arts Festival of the Arts Council of Moore County (ACME). Wurster's painting Untitled Abstract #8 was one of more than 300 entries exhibited at the Canpbell House Galleries in Southern Pines. The painting was purchased by the Charles Schwab investment firm, for which Wurster received the ACMC Purchase Award.

Harry Lane Wurster is a longtime resident of Fearrington Village, and active in the arts and writing communities and in community volunteer activities.
