Kim Werfel Wins Awards

Fearrington artist Kim Werfel’s pastels are claiming awards!  Winning Best of Show for her pastel “The Lookout” and the Pastel Society of Virginia Award for “Queen of Swords” at the 2013 N.C. Statewide Juried Pastel Exhibition.

The Exhibition, on view at the Hickory Museum of Art in Hickory NC through August 18, 2013, is a wonderful opportunity to view juried works by members of three pastel societies across the state.

Horty Jacobs at Logan's Festival


Fearrington artist, Horty Jacobs will be exhibiting at 
Logan’s Festival of the Arts August 10, 2013, 11-4pm
in Raleigh, NC

Horty Jacobs photographs, which she calls "Beauty At The End of the Line",  are a unique collection of  images found on old autos and rail cars. Finding inspiration in junk yards, Horty transforms rust, peeled paint, old signs and dented fenders into beautiful works of abstract art.

The 2nd Annual Logan’s Festival of the Arts presents local artists including 2D, 3D, performing, musical and more. The event features a silent auction and a raffle to win special prizes.

All money collected from the raffle & silent auction will go directly to support a local charity, House of Joy.  Logan’s Festival of the Arts is a free event and is part of Logan’s Second Saturday Series.  

Karen Havighurst Featured Artist

The Fourth Annual Artists in Residence Series sponsored by Blowing Rock Historical features a solo exhibit by Fearrington Artist, Karen Havighurst from Thursday, August 8 thruTuesday, August 13 at Edgewood Cottage in Blowing Rock, NC.

Momentum by Karen Havighurst

Karen's semi-abstract, mixed media paintings (watercolor and collage) are often inspired by nature, with an emphasis on good design, interesting textures, and unusual color combinations. Forty-eight works fill the walls in this exciting show.Edgewood Cottage is located at the corner of Main and Chestnut Streets right in front of the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum and Visitors Center. 

Artwork can be viewed from 10:00 a.m until 6:00 p.m. except Sunday when the hours are  noon until 6:00. 
The artist invites her fellow Fearringtonians to view the exhibit and will be on hand to meet art lovers and explain her creative process.
